Micalea Pinero, Me ilumino de inmensidad, UNA Galleria
UNA Galleria is pleased to present “Me ilumino de inmensidad,” marking the inaugural exhibition of Micaela Piñero (*1990 Buenos Aires) in Italy, curated by the Constitución galeria from Buenos Aires.
In this site-specific project, Micaela integrates her multifaceted artistic endeavors, spanning from poetry to craftsmanship, unveiling an installation comprising paintings, metal sculptures, and jewelry. The artist beckons viewers to delve into her inner realm, offering a mystical and poetic immersive experience. Her oeuvre encompasses magical ideation, the sacred intertwined with nature, the tumult of emotions, and the potency of language. Through a delicate web of symbols, Micaela unveils novel forms of expression, such as tears or raindrops, suspended bodies, moons and suns, flashes of light, and jewel-like insects.
Blue and gold
The installation’s nearly monochromatic palette, confined to blue and gold, imbues her canvases with a sense of singularity, captivating our attention through the freshness of her brushwork. Micaela employs a specific repertoire of materials: metal, leather, wood, fabric, acrylic paint, and techniques steeped in the artisanal tradition of goldsmithing and jewelry making, including welding, embossing, engraving, lost wax casting, and filigree.
“I create metalworks, compose poetry, paint, and write songs. My work engages with the universal and the personal through a fusion of diverse elements such as jewelry, everyday objects, and archetypes, permeated with contemporary temporality. I am intrigued by delving into the intimate and private universe, where, with a personalized vision, I seek to evoke existential characteristics or human instabilities, employing an iconography resonating with ritual, religious, esoteric, and oracular dimensions. I work with various materials such as metal, stone, and glass. I endeavor to encode a temporal dimension into the images I create: the temporality of nomadism, subsistence, and life.”
